BabyTalk is a 6 week course looking at early interactions and understanding about communication with your baby, allowing you and baby to learn together some key skills for life. It's suitable from 4 months to 12 months of age (at the start of the course) and each week focuses on a different key topic such as eye-contact, first words, copying and early sounds. From 4 months babies are interacting much more with their environments so it's the perfect time to make the most of this and engage with them in a positive way. For older babies who are becoming more mobile and wanting to explore, our course offers them a gentle introduction to participating more actively with games and communicating in different ways with others.

The classes are 1 hour long and involve a mix of interactive games and rhymes, play related to that week's topic, relaxed and informed discussion and heuristic (discovery) play. Our groups are small and friendly to encourage group conversation and we end each session with tea/coffee and biscuits. It is a very relaxed atmosphere so there is no need to worry if baby cries or needs to feed etc. Many of our Mums attending previous groups have enjoyed getting to know each other and sharing their baby’s development and have stayed in touch following our classes. We have had some fabulous feedback and lovely reviews!

*Thursdays 10-11am at Inverleith St. Serf’s Church Centre, Clark Road, EH5 3BD beginning 9th May, 16th, 23rd, 30th May, 6th and 13th June.

Our classes focus on building key language, listening and confidence skills that are the foundations for effective communication, and enable your child to thrive in a nursery and classroom environment! Designed by paediatric speech and language therapists to follow the developmental stages of language, our interactive games and play allow children to learn whilst having fun! Introductory offer for new customers – 3 week half price trial for £9. Classes are then £6 for 40/45 minutes payable half termly in advance.
